Samsung Galaxy S22 series may feature a 50MP RGBW sensor: Report | Digit

Samsung has reportedly started working on its next-generation Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones. Expected to launch early next year, information about these phones has already started to surface online thanks to leaks. Now, a new leak claims that the Galaxy S22 series from Samsung will come with a new 50-megapixel RGBW sensor.

This information comes courtesy of popular tipster, Ice Universe, who has claimed that Samsung will soon be launching a new 200-megapixel camera sensor and a 50-megapixel RGBW sensor as soon as next month. Interestingly, Samsung has already confirmed that it is working on a 200-megapixel camera sensor in the past. So it appears the leakster is talking about the same lens. Along with the 50-megapixel RGBW sensor, Samsung is looking likely to equip this 200-megapixel lens on the Galaxy S22 Ultra as well.

Apart from this, the tipster doesn’t reveal any detail about the Galaxy S22 series phones. However, we already have a fair idea of what we can expect courtesy of leaks. Reports have suggested that the upcoming Galaxy S-series smartphones will support 65W fast charging. The alleged model numbers of the three phones expected in the series – Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra – have also been leaked.

This information was received after the 65W charger from Samsung was certified by TÜV SÜD in February this year. This charger comes with model number EP-TA865 and was certified by South Korea’s NRRA certification in September last year. Another report by SamMobile claims to have revealed the model numbers of the Galaxy S22 series phones. As per the report, the vanilla Galaxy S22 will get SM-S901x, the Galaxy S22+ will come with the number SM-S906x, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will bring model number SM-S908x. The report also adds the series will be launched in January 2022.
