Fans are still heartbroken about losing Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they are delighted to see him in other exciting projects. One of these projects is Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, where Downey plays the role of the French anthropologist Levi Strauss.
We all recognise the significant impact Robert Downey Jr. has had on the MCU and its fandom throughout his extensive tenure with them. However, have you ever paused to consider the kind of impact the MCU may have had on his acting career?
Recently, in an interview with The New York Times (via ScreenRant), Downey Jr. was asked if he had any concerns about the MCU’s impact on his acting after portraying Tony Stark for over 10 years. He responded, stating that he had “a hundred percent” concerns. He also mentioned how Nolan had discussed the importance of “working those other muscles” and not relying solely on his go-to techniques, such as being “fast-talking, charming, and unpredictable.”
Robert Downey Jr. has always been recognised as a distinguished actor, and it is hard to believe that Marvel would hinder his acting abilities. We can witness his talents in the upcoming film Oppenheimer, set to release on July 21, 2023. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, and more.
