Valorant became one of the fastest growing Esports title, as its quick gunplay and flashy powers grasped the attention of millions. Valorant is a major part of PC Esports and its VCT competitions are one the most popular tournaments out there.
Following the new VCT model, many were wondered about Riot’s cap on partnered teams. While fans didn’t get any answers back then, the developer has now finally answered the burning question.
TL;DR: We’re all in on esports at Riot.
We strive to create the best experience for fans, players, and teams around the world. This is core to the culture of Riot and key to building a sustainable future for esports.

As spotted by DotEsports, Riot posted a gigantic blog post in which its President of Esports, John Needham. talks about the core of the Riot culture and their key to building a sustainable future for Esports. The post also talks about the developers keeping the fans, players and teams around the world as their utmost priority.
Moreover, the blog post also confirmed that the developers “deliberately constrained the number of professional teams competing” for VCT. The reason for that is digital Esports, which brings in the most money for Riot.
However, having a proper system where the money is split with the partnered teams as well as the developers is difficult when there are too many teams involved, as they have understood from their experience with League of Legends competitions. Therefore, the studio decided to limit the partnered teams to 30, so that everyone receives a proper slice of the pie.
LoL Esports Virtual Pass
In the same blog post, Riot has also spoken about a brand-new fan experience for players, where they will be able to feel more in tune with their favorite teams even when they are sitting at their home.
Riot understands that the main viewership for their events comes from virtual attendees. To elevate their experiences, the studio has unveiled new Virtual Pass for League of Legends. This exclusive virtual pass will also extend to Valorant by 2024, where ticket holders will get special access to unique camera angles for in-game as well as broadcast and other features too.
