Remnant 2 allows players to pick from one of four Archetypes at the start of the game, with a fifth being available for those who got the Gunslinger preorder bonus. Players can have two Archetypes equipped at once and can unlock the other Archetypes throughout a playthrough to maximize their character’s abilities.
The Summoner is unique in that you’ll have to find and unlock it to use it. Due to the randomness of Remnant 2’s worlds and map designs, the process is simple, but figuring it out in your own world may take some exploration and chance.
Finding Blood Moon Essence
The whole process of unlocking this Archetype takes place in Yaesha, so you may need to reroll your campaign if you want to unlock this right away. Your first goal will be to collect 15 Blood Moon Essences, which can be found in Yaesha in a region with a Blood Moon. When the Blood Moon is happening, the region you are in will have the moon turn blood-red while adding a red hue to the entire region with stronger winds than usual. Blood Moons are random for each person, so you need to explore each region of Yaesha to find which region of your world is affected by the Blood Moon.
Once you find the region with the Blood Moon, you can leave and return whenever you’d like, and the Blood Moon will still be in effect. Explore this region and look for the purple balls of light flying in the sky. Shooting these purple lights will have them pulled to the player and give you a single Blood Moon Essence. If needed, you can rest at a checkpoint or leave the region to spawn more Essences, but they will be in a different location. Find and shoot 15 of these purple lights before moving on.
The Blood Moon Altar
After obtaining the Blood Moon Essences, you must find the Blood Moon Altar. This acts as a vendor that can be used to trade Blood Moon Essences in Yaesha. The location of this Altar will be different for every person, and you’ll need to randomly explore Yaesha to find it. The Altar will be marked on your map with a blue icon, making it a bit easier to find. After locating the altar, buy the first item listed, the Faded Grimoire. This will cost 15 Blood Moon Essences, 5 Lumenite Crystals, and 1,000 Scrap.
Unlocking The Summoner Archetype
After getting the Faded Grimoire, return to Wallace at Ward 13. You’ll have to have the Grimoire refurbished by Wallace, costing another 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1,000 scrap. After paying this, you’ll unlock the Summoner Archetype for your current character and any other you make. With the Summoner unlocked, future characters you create will be able to begin the game selecting the Summoner Archetype.
