Tesla last month banned work from home for all employees across locations in the US. Following the ban, the company has reportedly started taking action against the employees who are not back to office yet. According to the report in The Telegraph, Tesla is sending an automated message to the employees who do not have at least 16 swipe-ins over the 30-day period ending on June 28.
What the message reads
“You are receiving this email because there is no record of you using your badge to enter a Tesla facility on at least 16 days over the 30-day period ending on June 28,” reads the message, shared with The Telegraph. “As a reminder, all employees are expected to be back in the office, full-time,” adds the email. Tesla employees need to swipe into their workplaces, which registers their attendance. The message is being sent to workers who reportedly do not swipe in frequently the required number of times.
What happens to those who are getting the email
The recipients of the email message are reportedly being asked to explain their absence to their line managers as well as report to a company monitoring system.
Elon Musk’s email asking employees to return to work
On May 31, Tesla CEO Elon Musk sent a company-wide email asking employees to resume work from the office. “Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean minimum) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers.”
