The Pokémon Company has unveiled the official title of its post-Ash Ketchum anime, Pokémon Horizons: The Series, along with a new trailer and a closer look at the characters.
The trailer offers fans an early look at the exciting adventures that dual protagonists Liko and Roy will go on throughout the series as they set sail on a new journey to uncover the mysteries of the Pokémon world — with the help of a few pals along the way! Check it out below:

Among their comrades are Friede, his partner Pokémon Captain Pikachu, and the Rising Volt Tacklers team, together with Amethio, who belongs to a mysterious organization called the Explorers with his partner Pokémon Ceruledge, plus a video streamer known as Nidothing.
Per the official logline, the Rising Volt Tacklers consists of “Orla, who enjoys mechanical and electrical work and is accompanied by her partner Pokémon, Metagross; Murdock, who is skilled at cooking, and his partner Pokémon, Rockruff; Mollie, who specializes in healing treatments, and her partner Pokémon, Chansey; and Ludlow.”
The series will debut later this year after the conclusion of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys, which has now aired in Japan, but exact timings for Pokémon Horizons have not yet been shared.
“Pokémon Horizons: The Series is set to be a thrilling journey that explores new wonders and makes fascinating discoveries about the Pokémon world,” said Taito Okiura, vice president of marketing for The Pokémon Company International, in a statement.
“The latest Pokémon Horizons: The Series trailer sheds further light on the mysterious adventures that await Liko and Roy,” Okiura added. “We invite Trainers to join in unraveling these secrets when the series begins premiering outside of Japan later this year.”
The Pokémon Company revealed in December that Ash would not be returning as the main character of the animated series for the first time in 25 years after finally earning his status as a Pokémon master, but that’s not to say they won’t show up in a cameo at some point.
After all, the show creators love to include throwbacks and references to previous seasons. Fans got emotional towards the end of last season when Misty made a return, for example, and Ash was recently reunited with another old friend from the first season too.
