Well-known leak account CentroLeaks recently posted a few threads where they listed bits of previously-unknown information about the upcoming Pokémon main series titles, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
CentroLeaks mentioned an unnamed leaker as their source, so it’s worth mentioning that the information is unverified. However, CentroLeaks is well-known for reporting accurate leaks in the past, such as revealing a wealth of gameplay details about Pokémon Legends: Arceus prior to the game’s release. The thread lists very granular details, like saying specific Pokémon that will or will not be included, however, there are some other noteworthy pieces of information.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will usher in the ninth generation of Pokémon games. So far, trailers have revealed snippets of gameplay, the general visual feel of the game, the three starters, and the two main legendary Pokémon. One of the coolest new features announced so far is that the games will have some form of shared-world online gameplay. The most recent trailer, as seen below, shows four players walking together in the same world, though the extent of this cooperative play has yet to be announced.
According to this leak, the region is called “Paldea,” though this is a rough Japanese translation. This would align with the released trailers that show a region, which many took as being visually inspired by Spain (‘Aldea’ means ‘Village’ in Spanish).
CentroLeaks stated that Mega Evolutions, the extra form of evolution that a certain number of Pokemon can do mid-battle to boost their stats, will not return. They instead state that there will reportedly be a new gimmick that is “a new concept of [Mega Evolutions].” A confusing pair of details was that, allegedly, “Pokemon WILL TIME TRAVEL,” but “the player will not.” Some fans replied with the theory that this may be the new form-changing gimmick in some way or another.
What CentroLeaks had to say about the gimmick, was that supposedly every Pokemon could do it and that it didn’t involve gaining a new type. They went on to further explain with security that it involved giving every Pokemon a “crystalized look” by using a new item. The “crystalized look” referred to a prior image they’d posted, as seen below.
Now a lightning round of info, since there are that many things. Allegedly, there are over 400 Pokémon in the regional Pokedex, Eevee will not be getting a new evolved form, there are three cities and nine towns, there are sidequests, the champion may vary depending on your version of the game, and there will be no starters from previous games. Finally, there is potentially a group of four semi-legendary Pokémon, think the Legendary dogs or the Regis.
There is even more information on CentroLeaks’ Twitter, including images of what are allegedly the gym leaders, as well as some new Pokémon. But please, as always, don’t take anything as fact until confirmed by the developer.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on November 18th, 2022.
