Pokemon Go goes gold for the upcoming Research Day event ahead of its upcoming season, Hidden Gems. The upcoming Gold Research Day named “Searching for Gold” is themed around gold and will feature golden PokeStops without players having to use a coin bag. The event will start on June 3 at 2 PM IST and ends at 5 PM.
Players will get to catch gold-coloured shiny forms of various pokemon during this event. These pokemon will include Lickitung, Azumarill, Weedle, Bellsprout, Poochyena, Tympole, Shelmet, and Stufful. New field research will also let players encounter Magikarp, Nosepass, Caterpie, Sableye, or Barboach. Each of these pokemon has an increased chance to be a shiny pokemon. There is also a timed research pass available for $1 which will give them the chance to catch more of the same pokemon that appear with the field research tasks.
The gold pokestops during the event will appear without players using a coin bag. This will allow them to get Gimmighoul coins by spinning these pokestops. Gimmighoul coins are required to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo.
Nintendo has highlighted that while roaming form Gimmighoul appears around gold pokestops, it will not be the case during this event. The roaming form Gimmighoul will only spawn around pokestops that have been turned gold by the player using a golden lure module. After this event, Niantic will be hosting a Water Festival: Beach Week event that will feature water and sand-based pokemon.
