PlayStation’s Project Q Gaming Handheld Leaked Images and Video Reveal More About New Device

We already knew that PlayStation was working on a gaming handheld accessory for the PS5, but information on the device has been slim since its initial reveal. But over the weekend, images and video leaked for the device, giving us a better idea of the OS Project Q will be running.

Spotted on Reddit and Imgur and published on Twitter by user Zuby_Tech, the leaked images and video show the device is running Android OS. The operating system itself is bare-bones and is most likely not the final version of the handheld’s operating system.

Images also show a slight teardown and a decent look at Project Q’s innards. We learned from the initial announcement that the device will include an 8-inch size tablet sandwiched by DualSense Controllers. But the biggest takeaway from the teardown is that the controllers won’t detach from the device.

PlayStation did not immediately reach out to IGN’s request for comment.

During a State of Play presentation held in May, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan revealed that the company was working on two accessories for the PS5: a pair of wireless earbuds and a gaming handheld device known under its codename Project Q. Project Q is being positioned as a companion device for the PS5 and not a cloud gaming streaming device like the Logitech G Cloud, with the device requiring you to install games on your PS5 to play them on the device itself.

We still have no idea when Project Q will release and how much it will cost.
