PlayStation Is Looking for a Person Who Will Focus On ‘Inorganic Growth Opportunities Through Acquisitions’

Acquisitions have always been a big part of the gaming industry, but they have gained more attention lately. The recent Microsoft-Activision Blizzard acquisition has set a new standard for the entire industry, being the largest acquisition in gaming history. As a result, competitors like Sony might also become more active in the acquisition race.

As spotted on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, PlayStation is in search of a manager dedicated to the acquisition process. Though the post has been deleted, we found the original job listing.

The job listing on GameJobs.co reveals that PlayStation is hiring a Manager for Corporate Strategy & Development-Integration Acceleration. This position aims to identify and execute growth opportunities through acquisitions.

Moreover, the job listing’s “responsibilities” section indicates that this manager will oversee the entire merger process, establish an integration strategy, and perform other duties. The position is based at their office in San Mateo, California.

In the comment section of the Reddit post, it’s clear that the gaming community isn’t thrilled about the ongoing acquisitions in the industry. Sony has a history of acquisitions, recently obtaining Bungie, the developer behind Destiny, for around $3.6 billion. Fans are worried that relying too heavily on acquisitions might not be the best development strategy for the industry.
