PlayStation has one thing over all of its competitors and that is its exclusive line of games. These exclusives have helped PlayStation to glory with most of its titles picking up major awards throughout the year. PlayStation boasts its top games under the PlayStation Studios banner and recently and old game has been replaced by a comparatively new game.
The new game that has been added to the banner has been developed by none other than the renowned Hideo Kojima. Death Stranding is the game that takes the spot which was previous owned by Genie. This change happened in a quiet manner, with no major announcement. It was a member called Toumari, on the blog post of Reset Era that recognised this change and spotted it out.
This was found to be strange by many fans as Death Stranding is not a game that has been directly developed by PlayStation Studios. But, Death Stranding is an intellectual property that is owned by the studios, which explains the addition of the game to the banner. The recently released PS5 remaster version for Death Stranding is also a contributing factor for Sony to make this change to the banner.
Hideo Kojima is a popular developer and is responsible for some of the iconic games out there. He has been pivotal in the development of the Metal Gear Solid series and also Snatcher Series. He recently exited from Konami to work for Death Stranding and is now reportedly working on a Horror Game title with Microsoft.
This is not the first time PlayStation has added a game from another title to their banner. This move was previously seen with Ratchet and Clank before PlayStation acquired Insomniac games. It was also seen for Demon Souls before PlayStation also went to acquire their studio, Bluepoint games. This makes many feel that Sony might be preparing to acquire Kojima Productions. This information is not concrete and the players should wait for an official announcement to know for sure.
