Players Are Already Getting Creative (And A Bit Smutty) With Photo Mode For Skyrim

Well, it’s taken us 13 years to get here, but at long last Skyrim has a photo mode. It is, like many of the best things in Skyrim, a mod, but it has the slick UI, impressive feature set, and functionality that you’d want from the feature were it native. You can download the mod over at Nexus Mods.

Using Photo Mode, you can untether the camera from the first- or third-person perspective, change filters and time of day, get your hero to strike poses, adjust the FoV, depth of field, brightness, saturation, and all those other wonderful things. Your snaps also end up appearing in picture frames on the loading screen when you’re between areas, which is a nice touch.

Naturally, I was curious to see what Skyrim’s amateur photographers have been up to in the days since the mod launched, and I learned two things: 1) Skyrim is still a damn gorgeous game, and 2) gamers are still filthy little smutheads, even though they can take some damn fine photos.

I can see this mod getting some serious traction, and based on the small bunch of user-created pics uploaded to Nexus Mods so far, I imagine it’ll be appreciated as much by Reddit Skyrim landscape photographers as it will by the, uhhh, more ‘specialist’ crowd over at Lover’s Lab.

Here are some of the top pics from Nexus Mods made using Photo Mode.

Here we can see the mod creator setting up a scenic shot with a mist-shrouded Solitude in the background.

The mod lets you take neat action shots, like the one below of an archer firing a magical arrow into a training dummy. Slick.

Check out this stunning mountain stroll. Is this a shot from Skyrim, or from that bit in Fellowship of the Ring where they’re going over the mountain and Boromir starts fiddling around with the One Ring? You decide.

This is a cool one, showing a pair of Skyrim’s sexiest setting their sights on something in the distance. It’s amazing how much more personality Skyrim gets when you can get those cinematic stills.

Weird Dead or Alive lady in Skyrim Photo Mode

Apparently the following photo was taken using the mod too, and upon checking I’m told it’s not in fact from the bouncy-boobed fighting game Dead or Alive. The question is: where in Skyrim is it? Solitude, maybe? Nowhere in Skyrim is exactly that vapid high-rolling LA feel, but if it’s gonna be anywhere, it’ll be the impressive clifftop town.

And of course of course things get a little racier, with some folks insistent on sharing their weird little Skyrim fetishes on Nexus Mods. I don’t know exactly what’s going on here, and she’s not wearing nearly enough armour for the cold climes of Skyrim, but I can’t deny that it’s a strong look (and yes, I cropped the photo to spare you the embarrassment at work. You owe me one).
