In a series of tweets, the LG said they have decided to put in place an institutional mechanism to coordinate and facilitate timely grant of all clearances, approvals and no-objection certificates required for the project from different departments and agencies.
The officials also agreed to meet periodically under the chairpersonship of the LG to review the status of approvals granted and to consider any inter-agency coordination issues that may arise.
The Union Cabinet in February 2019 had given ‘in-principle’ approval for the implementation of the master plan to convert AIIMS, New Delhi into a world-class medical university. The plan envisages freeing up adequate space through redevelopment, vertical expansion and reorganising the land usage, thus optimising the available infrastructure of the institute for the next 20 years.
Officials said the project would provide highly specialised state-of-the-art healthcare and an integrated ‘one campus’ answer to all the investigative, physiotherapeutic, operative, rehabilitative and vocational needs of the patients.
