Google could announce the Pixel 5a by August 2021 and may even release the phone the very same month, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has claimed. The Pixel 5a will be launched only in the US and Japan, whenever it launches, as Google earlier confirmed that these two are the only countries that would be getting the device initially. Whether it gets rolled out to other countries or not is also a mystery still. Google usually ships the a-series Pixel phones to India, so Pixel users still can hope for an India launch.
Google had quashed the rumours of the Pixel 5a getting cancelled and had said that the phone’s launch would coincide with the launches of the other a-series models last year. That gives two launch windows to the Pixel 5a, one being August, lining up with Pixel 4a and the other one being October, which lines up with the launch of the Pixel 4a 5G.
According to rumours, the Pixel 5a would bear a lot of similarities to the Pixel 4a when it comes to the size and design of the model. The device is rumoured to come powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, equipped with a dual rear camera setup. The device is expected to launch in both 4G and 5G variants. For now, it is looking like a mid-range device only that could be priced anywhere in the range of Rs 30-35K.
Google is also rumoured to be building a foldable device, most likely to be called the Pixel Fold. As per a report by ET News, Korea, Samsung may make UTG panels for the Pixel Fold and start shipping them from the second half of 2021. The Pixel Fold could arrive later this year or at the beginning of next year.
