Oshi no Ko Becomes Top Anime Series on MyAnimeList With Its Premiere Release

Oshi no Ko has quickly become one of the top anime series on MyAnimeList, after it premiered on Netflix and Ani-One Asia. The 90-minute-long episode was received well by fans.

Although it looks like a regular idol anime, Oshi no Ko is quite different. Instead of your typical story about a character wanting to break into the industry, Oshi no Ko explores the seedy underbelly of the idol industry. There are also many twists in the first episode, and the highly anticipated premiere of Oshi no Ko did not disappoint, as studio Doga Kobo brought the manga to life with stunning visuals and exceptional storytelling.

The series, which debuted in April 2020, is written by the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Aka Akasaka. The anime adaptation was announced in June 2022. It follows twins Ruby and Aqua, born to popular idol Ai Hoshino. When Ai approaches her due date, her gynaecologist is killed, only to be reincarnated as one of her twin children.

As the story progresses, the twins witness their mother’s brutal murder and vow to find the murderer’s identity. They enter the idol world in Japan, following in their mother’s footsteps, and things quickly get intense as they embark on their mission to uncover the truth about their mother’s death.

Oshi no Ko is one of the strongest contenders for the top Spring 2023 anime. The first episode is streaming on Netflix, Ani-One Asia, and HIDIVE. The Oshi no Ko manga is available digitally on Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform.
