OPPO MariSilicon Y Bluetooth audio might just be a gamechanger | Digit

Oppo revealed its newest SoC, the MariSilicon Y during the Inno Day 2022 event. This is claimed to offer high-quality sound with a quality that matches that of wired connections

The Inno Day 2022 event saw a lot of product reveals, with one of them being Oppo’s first custom SoC for sound. It’s claimed to achieve “ultra-high” transmission rates via Bluetooth and uses a technology that is an “industry-first”. The new SoC uses its own neural processing unit (NPU) that allows billions of calculations per second. It also supports lossless audio.

According to Oppo, the aim was to create a personalised spatial audio experience for those using a device equipped with it. The brand states that the MariSilicon Y-branded product will transcend the limitations of regular Bluetooth in order to create an experience that’s akin to the quality you get with wired audio. The OEM states that it can back these claims in 24-bit audio at up to 192kHz “for the first time”.

As a result of this, the “ultra-high-speed Bluetooth solution” has been rated for an “unprecedented” bandwidth – 12 Mb/s. In order to achieve this, the device has to use Oppo’s URLC codec. This means that not all devices will be compatible with the MariSilicon Y-branded chipset.

Which Oppo smartphones will have the MariSilicon Y-branded chipset?

At this point, Oppo has not confirmed which smartphones will have the MariSilicon Y-branded chipset. There are quite a few smartphones that are slated to launch in the coming future, including the Oppo Find X6 flagship smartphone, the Oppo Find N2, and Oppo Find N2 Flip. Any of these could be equipped with the brand new SoC.
