OnePlus has officially announced its forthcoming entry into the Indian smartphone market with the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open. The company has been dropping hints about the phone’s design in the lead-up to its launch. While the exact release date remains undisclosed, we now have confirmation that the phone will soon be available in Indian markets. Earlier speculations had hinted at a late October launch.
In the official announcement, OnePlus took to X to showcase the partially folded OnePlus Open. The phone was presented in a sleek black colour variant, featuring the Alert Slider on the left edge, and the volume rocker and power button on the right edge.
The accompanying caption reads, “A true OnePlus experience awaits. Opening Soon.”
Previously leaked information had suggested that the OnePlus Open might be priced around Rs 1,20,000 in India. Earlier leaked images of the device had also revealed a circular rear camera module positioned at the centre of the upper back panel. The phone’s design showcased rounded corners and a unique lychee-like leather finish.
As for the phone’s specifications, rumours suggest the OnePlus Open will feature a 7.82-inch OLED inner screen with a resolution of 2,440×2,268 pixels, as well as a 6.31-inch OLED outer display boasting a resolution of 1,116 x 2,484 pixels. Both screens are expected to offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone is likely to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with a substantial 16GB of RAM and the option for up to 1TB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the OnePlus Open is anticipated to sport a triple rear camera system, including a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 64-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the phone is rumoured to have either a 32-megapixel or a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. To keep the device powered, a 4,805mAh battery is expected, with support for rapid 100W wired charging.
