Obi-Wan Kenobi was released as a standalone single season show. But, the makers never denied the possibilities of a second season. In a recent interview for Entertainment Weekly podcast, Dagobah Dispatch, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy spoke about upcoming Star Wars projects.
On the May 11, 2023, episode, Kennedy was asked about the chances of a Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Here is what Kennedy had to say about a Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
“I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we’re doing, or eventually into a movie, but who knows? But right now, it’s still our standard stand-alone limited series, we have no plans for expansion right now.”
The future of Obi-Wan Kenobi show does not seem to have proceeded much from where it was in 2022. The show continues to be a standalone release, without the makers dismissing the chances of a second season.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and the Order 66. Ewan McGregor reprised his character as Obi-Wan from the Star Wars movies in the 2022 show. As part of the plot, Obi-Wan tries to come to terms with his past and regain his connection with The Force. The show is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
