It’s been over six years since the Nintendo Switch debuted with games like the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017, and more.
The Japanese gaming giants have successfully sold over 120 million units of Nintendo Switch, and is expected to sell more with upcoming games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
However, for the past few months, fans have been looking over the horizon, waiting to hear any news about a potential next- generation sequel to the Switch. And according to Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser, a next-generation console won’t be arriving anytime soon.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Bowser claimed that the Switch still has a few years left in its tank. “As we enter the seventh year for the Nintendo Switch, sales are still strong,” said Bowser. “I think we still have a very very strong lineup coming.”
“So, nothing to announce on any future console or device,” stated the Nintendo of America President. “But we are still feeling very bullish about Nintendo Switch.” Bowser further noted that the Switch continues to be in demand, as it provides a multitude of options for players to enjoy their favourite titles. “One of the reasons that even going into year seven we feel very confident that the Switch can have a strong performance over the next few years is that it is still truly that unique device that you can play in a variety of ways, at home, on the go,” revealed Bowser.
In the end, a next-generation Nintendo Switch console is still far on the radar of the popular Japanese gaming company, as it prepares for the release of some of its upcoming blockbuster titles.
