Xiaomi will be offering three years of Android upgrade and four years of security fixes for its upcoming Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro. While both the phones will get extended Android updates and security patches it can be expected that all phones that Xiaomi launches after the 11T devices will also come with the same benefit. However, if you are using any old Xiaomi phones then you are out of luck for now.
Xiaomi isn’t extending the same Android update promise to its existing devices and you may have to wait for a while before Xiaomi at least does so for some of its newer phones.
Three years of Android updates and four years of security support is slowly becoming a new standard for Android phone brands. Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo have also announced the same benefit for some models as well.
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its new flagship smartphones on September 15. The Xiaomi 11T and 11T Prowill succeed the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro smartphones. Both the smartphones are speculated to feature top-notch specifications such as the latest chipset, high-resolution camera setup, better display and more.
The Xiaomi 11T is rumoured to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, while the Pro version is speculated to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The Mi 11T was earlier spotted on multiple certification websites including FCC, SIRM, etc that revealed the model number of the smartphone as 2107113SG. Both the smartphones are expected to come in two variants — 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants. Also, both 11T and 11T Pro are expected to feature a 120Hz display panel.
