New Super Mario Bros. Movie Toys Are Coming Soon

A new batch of figures and playsets based on the Super Mario Bros. Movie has been announced. The lineup of new figures, from Jakks Pacific, includes Princess Peach and Cat Mario, along with a pair of playsets based on the film, and more. This set of toys will be available exclusively at Target in the US, and is slated to release in July.

Among the new offerings is a second wave of 5” figures, including Tanooki Mario, Kamek, Peach, and Cat Mario. Each one is nicely detailed and has between eight and 16 points of articulation, so you can pose them or play with them in a variety of ways. These figures will retail for $19.99 each.

As for the two playsets, they feature a number of interactive elements. Bowser’s Island Castle, which retails for $29.99, comes with a 1.25” Bowser figure and includes jail cells and a trapdoor. The Donkey Kong Stadium playset costs $19.99; it includes a 1.25” Donkey Kong figure and opens to reveal the fighting arena featured in the animated movie. Beyond those, a 42” Inflatable Bowser’s Battle has also been announced. 

Also arriving in July are a line of 1.25” mini figures. These include the hero characters Cat Mario and Tanooki Mario, along with the villainous Dry Bones, Shy Guy, Goomba, and General Koopa. These will be $5.99 each.

Finally, a Mario Rumble R/C Kart Racer lets you control the Italian plumber as he races around. It features a light-up tailpipe, and Mario’s head and hands move when you turn.

And in case you hadn’t heard, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now available for home viewing, in both physical and digital formats.
