Mythic Quest Spinoff Announced at Apple TV+

Mythic Quest Spinoff Announced at Apple TV+

Mythic Quest is getting its first expansion – a new spin-off series called Mere Mortals.

The new comedy series will expand the Mythic Quest universe, and “explore the lives of employees, players, and fans who are impacted by the game.”

Mythic Quest itself follows Rob McElheney as the creative director at a video game studio that produces the popular MMORPG, Mythic Quest. Mere Mortals will be written by Mythic Quest star Ashley Burch, as well as John Howell Harris and Katie McElhenney.

The upcoming spin-off is said to be inspired by several episodes of Mythic Quest – notably, the upcoming Season 3 episode “Sarian,” which is set to debut on Apple TV+ tomorrow, as well as the standalone specials, “Quarantine” and “Everlight”.

Mere Mortals will last for eight episodes and is heading to Apple TV+ – the home of the original series. Megan Ganz, Rob McElhenney, David Hornsby, Charlie Day, Nick Frenkel, Michael Rotenberg, Jason Altman, and Margaret Boykin are on board as executive producers.

As well as the upcoming spin-off, Mythic Quest has also been renewed for a fourth season.

Meanwhile, Season 3 recently debuted, notably without F. Murray Abraham as Mythic Quest writer, C.W. Longbottom.

Season 3 will focus on the new game studio GrimPop – formed by Ian (Rob McElhenney) and Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) after they resigned from Mythic Quest. Meanwhile, David (David Hornsby) takes over leadership of the game with Jo (Jessie Ennis) as his assistant.

IGN’s review of Mythic Quest Season 3 gave it 9/10 and said: “In a season dominated by characters struggling to find their place at Mythic Quest or GrimPop Studios, this is the strongest outing from the Apple TV+ comedy staple. Rob McElhenney and the other writers have struck a balance between cynicism and sentiment, making the storylines more satisfying. There are plenty of laughs (and tears) bolstered by an ensemble that works in whatever pairing or grouping. Guest star Joe Manganiello is game when it comes to playing himself, and the storylines organically develop over the ten-episode season.”
