Respected music industry veteran Robin Godfrey-Cass, the current UK MD of Round Hill Carlin, is leaving the company at the end of June.
Godfrey-Cass has announced that he’s departing the publisher after four-and-a-half years with the company.
Godfrey-Cass was initially hired to head up creative at Round Hill/Carlin out of London after Round Hill officially closed its acquisition of independent publisher Carlin Music in January 2018.
He was then appointed as MD of the UK office of Round Hill Carlin in June 2019.
Robin Godfrey-Cass’s music industry career spans over 30 years.
He was appointed as Warner/Chappell Music UK’s Managing Director in 1985 at age 30, becoming the youngest ever appointed MD for a major publisher.
Promoted in 1990 to Senior Vice President (Europe), and in addition to his MD duties, he coordinated European acquisitions for Warner/Chappell.
Godfrey-Cass has been heavily involved in dealmaking for Round Hill UK.
Some of the deals announced by Round Hill in recent months include a music rights acquisition in March (writer’s share of publishing, neighbouring rights, and master royalty income), via its Fund 3 Plus, from Herman Rarebell, original drummer in The Scorpions.
In December, Round Hill Music‘s Music Royalty Fund Two vehicle acquired the music publishing catalog of legendary producer, writer, musician, music supervisor, music publisher and DJ, John ‘Jellybean’ Benitez.
In September 2021, Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Limited acquired 100% of the master royalty income of 532 original recordings from American classic R&B group, The O’Jays.
In February 2021, meanwhile, Round Hill acquired the catalog of Massive Attack members Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall, and in January 2021, Round Hill bought the catalog of Billy Duffy, songwriter and guitarist with UK rock band, The Cult.
“I shall look back on my time at Round hill very fondly and would like to thank CEO, Josh Gruss, for all his support. I’m looking forward to my next adventure with a great deal of positivity.”
