Mushoku Tensei: Who Is Ariel?

Voiced by Reina Ueda, the actress behind many of your favorite female characters like Reze from Chainsaw Man, Lemon from Mashle: Magic & Muscles, and Ruri from Dr. Stone, among others, Ariel is one of the main characters in the new season of the Mushoku Tensei anime.

She made her first appearance in episode ‘zero’ of the show, claiming a spot as Sylphiette’s defacto guardian. Her noble and charismatic demeanor has won over many, but she is hiding many secrets unseen by the public eye.

Appearance

Ariel has a very queenly appearance. She has long, flowing blond hair with a thin side braid to accentuate her natural beauty. She has very fair skin and light blue eyes that sparkle in the light, giving her an ethereal appearance. She wears a long flowing dress, usually a maroon color with white accents. According to Rudeus, she is ‘objectively the most pretty female.’

Personality

Ariel has a very delicate and regal atmosphere surrounding her. She is seemingly very kind, treating everyone around her with respect and even talking nicely to her servants. She is also very clever, making the best of the bad hands she’s dealt without too many issues. She is able to improvise on the fly to mitigate potential damage and is able to navigate the political minefield with great finesse.

Though she presents a dignified facade, it’s important to remember that she’s just as much of a degenerate as the rest of Asura’s nobles. She is a pervert with a sadistic fetish, often using her own servants to satisfy her dubious desires. When Fittz fights and injures her during such an event, she discovers her masochistic side as well.

History

Ariel Asura is the second princess of the Asura Kingdom and is third in line for the kingdom. Because of her relatively low ranking among the princes and princesses, she doesn’t have ambitions to take over the kingdom at the start but changes her mind when her loyal follower, Derrick, requests her to do her best as his dying wish.

She takes on Sylphiette as her bodyguard, ordering her to wear special glasses and change her attire to hide her true identity, having her don the persona of “Silent Fittz.” After surviving many assassination attempts from rival factions, she goes to the Ranoa kingdom, alongside Luke and Fittz, to study at the Magical Academy, where she quickly disposes of the current student council, taking the seats for herself as just a 2nd-year student.

During her tenure in the student council, Ariel asks the headmaster to recruit the powerful mage “Rudeus of the Quagmire” to their school, especially since Fittz confirms that he is her childhood friend. Rudeus joins the school as well, deciding to help Ariel with her bid for the throne and reuniting with his childhood sweetheart.
