Mortal Kombat 2 is filling out the rest of its cast.
Marytn Ford will play Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam will play King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen will play Sindel, and Damon Herriman will play Quan Chi in the sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat, IGN has learned.
They join Karl Urban, who will play movie star Johnny Cage, as well as Adeline Rudolph as the assassin Kitana and Tati Gabrielle as Jade.
IGN has also confirmed that most of the original cast will be returning for the sequel as well, including Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.
In terms of the new cast, bodybuilder Ford has appeared in F9: The Fast Saga, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Netflix’s The Sandman, amid a long list of other film and television credits. He’ll next be seen in Red Sonja.
Chiam, meanwhile, will be in the upcoming Joy Ride alongside Stephanie Hsu and Ashley Park. He originally broke out in The Shannara Chronicles, as well as Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Nguyen will next be seen in the upcoming film Suka, and Herriman has appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger.
Simon McQuoid returns to direct Mortal Kombat 2 with Jeremy Slater writing the screenplay. It’s being produced by Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear, Broken Road Productions’ Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh. It does not currently have a release date.
