After a successful beta weekend on PlayStation consoles, Activision is back with a second beta on all platforms. Indeed, the second beta weekend will be playable on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The exact release date and launch time depends on the platform and pre-order status, beginning at 6pm BST UK time on October 12 for all PS4 and PS5 users, as well as Xbox and PC pre-order customers. Xbox and PC users without a Modern Warfare 3 pre-order or beta code, can start playing on October 14.
If you played last weekend’s PlayStation beta, then you can jump into the action using the previously downloaded Call of Duty HQ app, which is available through Modern Warfare 2 and/or Warzone.
If you’ve pre-ordered a physical copy on Xbox or PC, then you’ll need to visit the Call of Duty beta website and enter your code. Your should have received your code via email or on your receipt.
If you pre-ordered digitally, then you’ll automatically gain access to the beta. Simply download the beta client and start playing through Call of Duty HQ.
The Modern Warfare 3 beta runs until 6pm BST on October 16, so there’s plenty of time to sample the maps and game modes.
Speaking of which, the second beta weekend expands on the first, adding new experiences for fans to try.
The second beta weekend will actually contain seven maps, including five Core maps and two Ground War maps.
Core maps include Favela, Estate, Skidrow, Rust and Highrise. These maps can be played in Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Cutthroat and Search & Destroy.
In addition to the classic maps and game modes, fans can check out the Popov Power Plant map and Orlov Military Base, which are playable as part of the Ground War mode.
This is a larger-scale map and game mode, where teams will have to participate in multiple phases in order to emerge victorious.
Fans will also be able to unlock a selection of exclusive in-game rewards by playing the beta, including Modern Warfare 3 beta sticker, ‘Did the Beta’ Vinyl, Operation Beta weapon charm, Beta Tester animated calling card, Beta Ripper weapon blueprint and an animated emblem.
