Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 MX Guardian: How To Unlock & Best Attachments

Season 4 Reloaded kicks things off into overdrive with The Boys crossover, bringing all new superpowers into Warzone 2’s various game modes. The inclusion of all-new Battle Pass rewards also has players excited – especially now that a brand-new Shotgun has been brought into the mix. Though the KV Broadside still remains king, the MX Guardian is currently one of the strongest weapons to use in close-range gunfights.

The MX Guardian is the very first fully-automatic Shotgun to be introduced into Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. This heavy Shotgun has the best fire rate among all the weapons of its platform, along with the second-best level of handling. However, it does possess the lowest level of accuracy, recoil control, and mobility – making it one of the hardest weapons to control.

Unlocking The MX Guardian

The MX Guardian is a free reward tied to the Season 4 Battle Pass and can be found at Sector D0. While other Battle Pass Sector rewards require the use of Battle Pass Tokens to claim them, the rewards of D0 follow a different rule. The requirements to unlock each reward take the form of challenges, but you cannot unlock the MX Guardians challenge without first acquiring all previous rewards. Here’s how to unlock each one:

The Best Attachments For The MX Guardian

Our MX Guardian build provides a slight increase in damage, along with a great boost in range, accuracy, and recoil control – at the cost of mobility and handling. The first attachment we recommend using is the LOCKWOOD SMOOTHFIRE 12. This nifty muzzle attachment will provide both horizontal and vertical recoil control – a must for countering the weapon kick encountered when firing this weapon.

The second attachment we recommend is the HYP-LM barrel. All Shotguns in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 possess poor range by default, and the MX Guardian is no exception. The HYP-LM boosts both damage range and bullet velocity, thus making your weapon perform just a little better at a distance.

While the aforementioned barrel attachment does slightly improve hip-fire accuracy, go ahead and throw on both the VX PINEAPPLE and the POINT-G3P 04. Doing so will make the MX Guardian that much better for firing from the hip – which is a must as the ADS speed is painfully slow. The final attachment we recommend using is the BRUEN B60. Again, this attachment aims to improve recoil control – an attribute that is in real need of an overhaul.

Best Perk Package

You know the drill by now. For both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, go ahead and create your own custom Perk Package. Though the perks you pick are purely down to personal preference, we recommend the following. First, go ahead and take Tracker as your Base Perk. Doing so will reveal the foot trails of enemy operators, thus allowing you to track them down and make use of the MX Guardian’s close-range advantage.

Next, take Scavenger, as you will find yourself running out of ammo fairly quickly with this Shotgun. We strongly recommend taking Fast Hands as your Bonus Perk, for the reload speed of the MX Guardian is obnoxiously slow. Finally, finish off with Quick Fix. Though Ghost is a considerable option, immunity to UAVs isn’t necessary without the use of a suppressor – making Quick Fix the second-best option.

Secondary Recommendations

With a painfully slow reload speed and a fast-fire rate, it is likely that your primary weapon will be put out of action after each gunfight. Therefore, consider taking a swap-to-secondary to keep you covered in situations where you are unable to pop off a quick reload. The best secondary for Season 4 has to be the FTAC Siege. However, the X13 Auto is also a decent option.

For Warzone 2 however, go ahead and equip an Assault Rifle capable for long range engagements. The Lachmann-556 is a powerful weapon choice for Season 4 – but the ISO Hemlock and even the TAQ-56 remain two of the best long-range Assault Rifles.
