The exams are scheduled for July 19 and 22 and the mock drill will be held on Saturday. “All preparations for the SSLC exams are complete and students should face them confidently,” Kumar said on Wednesday.
Kumar chaired a meeting with education department officials at Vidhana Soudha and directed them to ensure students do not face any difficulty when they appear for the exam. “I have instructed officials to address all safety concerns among students and parents, as well as build confidence among them,” he said.
Students have already been given OMR sheets for practice and teachers have been guiding them on how to mark them. Besides this, room supervisors have been given their list of duties, and exam centres have already received an adequate supply of sanitisers, masks, and thermal scanners, Kumar said.
“Teachers have been in constant touch with students and parents and have informed them of measures we have taken. Compared to last year, things are better this year and even students are eager to appear for the exam,” he said, adding he has told all DDPIs to ensure that no student should miss the exam due to lack of transportation.
He said students can show their ID cards to travel in government buses. Only fully vaccinated staff will be on exam duty.
The department of public instruction has asked DDPIs, BEOs, and headmasters to ensure every student receives his/her hall ticket. The DPI said hall tickets were uploaded on the official website of the SSLC board and headmasters were downloading and distributing them. “There were reports that some schools have not done this. Pupils can approach the board if they need help,” DPI said. The department said hall tickets cannot be withheld due to non-payment of fees.
Support from Sandalwood
From how to fill OMR sheets to safety measures at exam centres, Sandalwood actors starred in a video produced by the education department to encourage students to appear for the SSLC exam. Actors like Anu Prabhakar Mukherjee, Kiran Srinivas, Dev Devaiah, Hitha Chandrashekar, and Samyukta Hornad, feature in the video.
“SSLC is an important stage in a student’s life, so face the exam and excel in it,” Anu Prabhakar said. Hitha Chandrashekar said students who do not have masks will be given one.
“There will be designated spots to store mobiles safely and keep bags outside the exam halls,” she said, adding students must inform their supervisors if they have any symptoms so that they can be seated in a separate room.
