Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One Exclusive Look Hits IMAX Theaters This Week

Mission Impossible fans who just can’t wait for Dead Reckoning Part One can get a sneak peek at the movie this weekend.

On Twitter, it was revealed that a behind-the-scenes look at Dead Reckoning is hitting IMAX theaters starting Thursday, December 15. The special look lines up with IMAX screenings of Avatar: The Way of Water, which is opening in theaters this weekend.

The quick teaser showed star Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie standing on a ramp, presumably discussing an upcoming stunt. In Dead Reckoning’s first teaser, we saw the result of this prep, as Cruise rode a motorcycle off a cliff before entering free fall. The stunt is apparently the most dangerous thing Cruise has ever done.

Mission Impossible 7 and 8 will be the culmination of the long-running action film series. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will hit theaters on July 14, 2023 after it was delayed from its September 2022 date. It won’t be a long wait for the conclusion, as Part Two will debut on June 28, 2024.

Dead Reckoning Part One has a high bar to live up to given Cruise’s recent success. This year’s Top Gun: Maverick quickly became Cruise’s highest-grossing film of all time, and one of the highest-grossing movies in North American history. The last Mission Impossible — 2018’s Fallout — saw the best box office debut in the franchise.
