Mirvac delivers $210m of new apartments at Green Square

Property giant Mirvac has completed the main structures of three new residential apartment buildings at Green Square in Sydney’s inner south, signalling the near completion of 311 new homes as part of a large urban renewal project in Australia.

Located at Zetland with a combined construction value of more than $210 million, the simultaneous topping out of The Frederick, Portman on the Park, and Portman House will see the delivery of much-needed housing in the popular inner suburb.

The buildings were “topped out” on Tuesday with NSW Minister for planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully, and Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore in attendance, signalling that the final structural beam has been raised into place, completing the building frames.

The ASX-listed Mirvac, with a market value of $9.27 billion, is the country’s largest developer of medium to high density housing, along with large-scale industrial, office and build-to-rent portfolios.

It has focused on expanding its residential business through new apartments and the burgeoning build-to-rent sector to help alleviate the housing supply crisis across the country.

Mirvac chief executive development Stuart Penklis said the completion of these three buildings forms a significant milestone for the ongoing evolution of Green Square from one of the city’s oldest industrial suburbs to Sydney’s first new town centre in more than a century.

“The new community we are delivering in partnership with state and local government at Green Square has already contributed homes for over 1000 residents, and these three new apartment buildings will see a further 685 residents calling the precinct home by the end of 2023,” Penklis said.

On completion, Mirvac will deliver more than 1600 apartments in Green Square, along with state-of-the-art office and vibrant retail spaces, and substantial public spaces within the Green Square Town Centre.
