Microsoft’s attempts to acquire Activision Blizzard has found several barriers. One of these was about how COD titles will perform on Nintendo Switch after the Japanese gaming giants signed a 10-year deal with Xbox to bring the franchise to the console. Fortunately, Phil Spencer has cleared all doubts about it.
During the on-going Xbox FTC trial, Spencer was asked that if COD launches for the Switch, will it appear the same to the player as it does on the Xbox? Spencer replied by stating that their goal would be to provide on-par or even better-quality gaming than other Switch titles. Spencer added that COD will perform great as a Switch game but will not look the same as other platforms.
This will not come as a surprise to most as the tech in the newer-gen PlayStation 5’s and Xbox Series X/S’ is much higher than in the Nintendo Switch, so providing the same level performance for varying platforms with varying specs will be difficult for the company. However, Switch fans can rest easy knowing that the game will be optimized for the platform.
Pete Hines Confused about the Availability of COD on PlayStation
On the topic of Xbox and its acquisitions, one of the execs from its earlier acquisitions seems confused about Xbox’s recent moves. Through new emails revealed by Stephen Totilo from Axios, it has been revealed that Pete Hines was confused about why Xbox has promised to keep Call of Duty titles on PlayStation but has removed any sign of Bethesda titles appearing on the platform.
Hines also asks in the February 22 dated mail that they should have received a heads-up about this information as Todd Howard was going to DICE in a couple of weeks and he could be asked why Activision Blizzard titles still exist on PlayStation whereas Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will not. The last statement comes as an even bigger surprise for many as The Elder Scrolls 6 being an Xbox exclusive hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
