Microsoft teams: Microsoft to solve one of the biggest loopholes in Teams with this update – Times of India

Microsoft is going to let the non-smartphone joiners raise a hand during a Teams meeting by adding a new feature. The participants who log in with a device other than a smartphone can now request to speak in the meeting by raising their hand via pressing “*5”, that is pressing an asterisk and a 5 at the same time on the number pad. Till now, only those who joined using a smartphone were able to do so. But not anymore. If you are logging in to a Teams meeting with your tablet, desktop or any other eligible internet-connected device, you will soon be able to use this feature.
As per the Microsoft 365 roadmap, “Presenters and Organizers can now prevent PSTN participants from unmuting. This change also allows PSTN participants to request to speak by raising their hand in a meeting via dial-pad command (press *5).”
Microsoft has not rolled out the feature yet though you may expect to see it soon, this month only, as a part of an update.
The company recently introduced another new Teams functionality by merging the work and personal accounts in the same app at the same time. Earlier, it was not possible to use both the work and personal profiles in the same app. The update to Microsoft Teams eliminates the need to toggle between the two types of accounts. After the update, when you log in, your work or school account should simply show as the app’s logo, while the personal one will be indicated by a logo within a white circle to differentiate it. This is an update that’s been slowly rolling out to users and it might take some time to arrive if you already haven’t got it.
