Microsoft Has No Plans to Increase Xbox Prices

After Sony announced that it is going to increase the price of the PlayStation 5 in markets around the world, Microsoft has confirmed that its consoles, the Xbox Series X and S, are spared. The company told Windows Central in a statement it has no plans to raise the prices of the Xbox Series X or S.

The prices will stay the same as they are right now in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The company will continue to sell the Series S console at the price of US$299 and the Series X at US$499.

Sony made headlines after announcing that it will adjust the price of its PlayStation 5 console in markets such as Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Canada. The company cited reasons such as the rising inflation rate and adverse currency trends behind the move. In a PlayStation Blog, the company announced that the console will raise its price by US$50 (≈₹4,000).

There is no word on the exact price increase in the Indian market for the PlayStation 5.

Last month, Meta’s Oculus Quest 2 also got a price hike, giving rising costs as the reason behind the decision. The company has said that from August 1, the 128GB model for the headset will cost US$399.99 (≈₹32,000). The 256GB model will go for US$499.99 (≈₹40,000) in the United States. The device isn’t available in India officially but is sold on Amazon by third-party vendors who import the headsets in the country and sell them online at a higher price.
