During the PlayStation Showcase earlier today, Konami confirmed the long-rumored remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, which is now called Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
The trailer started with a close-up of ants crawling toward a dead frog, which was then taken by a bird. Eventually the bird lands on a log, where it is attacked by snakes and crocodiles. Eventually the camera pans away from the fracas to a tree in the background, where Naked Snake emerges from the water.
In addition, at the end of the trailer, a teaser screen for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 appeared on the screen, which confirms Metal Gear Solid, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, and MGS 3: Snake Eater will becoming to PlayStation 5 this fall.
Reports of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake began to intensify in February this year, with rumors that Konami was planning to have a big presence at E3. After E3 was canceled, new rumors claimed that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake would first be shown off at the PlayStation Showcase, but that the game wouldn’t be exclusive to that platform. In addition to the rumored Snake Eater remake, Konami is said to be working on a new Castlevania title.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is generally considered to be one of the best games in the series, as it featured inventive boss fights, innovative survival mechanics for its time, and sharp writing that told the origin story of Big Boss. The Subsistence version of the game significantly improved and fine-tuned the experience, turning it into an unmissable showcase of stealth, espionage, and cunning tactics.
