MCU Actor Zoe Saldaña Says Gamora and Star-Lord Reunion Is Still Possible After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Zoe Saldaña, the actor who has appeared in the three most successful films of all time, mentioned that a reunion of Gamora and Star-Lord should not be ruled out. According to her, the events in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 leave a possibility open for Peter Quill and her character to cross paths again, even if it’s just as friends.

Gamora, the daughter of the Mad Titan, was killed off in Avengers: Infinity War. However, a different version of her from a 2014 timeline came to the MCU’s main timeline. This new Gamora is not the same person we saw in earlier Guardians of the Galaxy films, and she didn’t experience the same love story with Peter Quill (Star-Lord). Despite Star-Lord’s efforts to express his feelings and hope for a future together, it didn’t come to fruition in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Nevertheless, their chemistry was evident, even for the new Gamora, who couldn’t ignore it.

“I think the whole thing with Peter bothered her, because even though she had no recollection of who he was, she had a sense that it must have been special,” Saldaña told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I appreciated that takeaway because it kind of gave us the hope that if the Guardians seek help again from the Ravagers, maybe Gamora and Peter will find a way back into each other’s lives, even if it’s just as friends.”

With James Gunn now leading projects in DC and some actors like Saldaña and Dave Bautista (who plays Drax) stating that Guardians of the Galaxy was their last appearance in the MCU, the chances of seeing the entire band back together seem unlikely. However, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord is confirmed to return to the MCU, and actors have been known to change their minds about returning to a franchise, so there’s a possibility we might see Zoe Saldaña return as Gamora someday as well.
