Marriott International will add 30 hotels in Greater China by the
end of 2023, the company announced Tuesday.
The regional expansion adds to Marriott’s portfolio of more than
460 properties across 120 destinations in Greater China, including existing AC Hotels
by Marriott, Aloft Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Element Hotels, Fairfield by
Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton and Moxy Hotels, the company stated in a news
release.
Marriott’s newest hotel openings include AC Hotels by Marriott in
Suzhou, opening
December 2022, and plans for two Aloft Hotels in Beijing and Yantai; Element
Hotels in Guangzhou Baiyun; Moxy Hotels in Suzhou, Xi’an, Chongqing and Ningbo;
Fairfield by Marriott properties in the Hangzhou Xihu District, Kunshan and
Zhuji; Courtyard by Marriott properties in Chongli and Jiuzhaigou; and five
Four Points by Sheraton properties in Greater China. Marriott did not release specific
cities for the Four Points by Sheraton openings.
Select-service brands represent more than 50 percent of Marriott
International hotels expected to open in Greater China across 2022 and 2023.
Marriott chief development officer of Greater China Gavin Yu said in a press
statement, “Our select-service brand portfolio is a growth engine for the
company as we continue to expand.”
Marriott’s focus on Greater China follows its 30-hotel
expansion planned across Africa, announced earlier this month.
