The teaser of the upcoming big-budget, historical drama Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) was released by the makers on Friday. Helmed by ace director Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part film which is based on the epic book of the same name, authored by Kalki. The first instalment is set to hit the big screens on September 30.
The film features a star cast, including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Lal, Sarath Kumar, and Ashwin Kakamanu. The little more –than- one minute- long teaser, shows extravagant visuals of the Chola dynasty with elaborate war sequences and glimpses of prominent royalties and commanders.
Earlier in the week, the makers had kickstarted the promotions by releasing the character posters of the cast. The posters of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini, Trisha as Princess Kundavai, and Jayam Ravi as titular character Ponniyin Selvan, were released. Backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the duology will release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
