Lock Upp: Sara Khan storms off as ex-husband Ali Mercchant enters the show. Watch

Sara Khan appeared to be disappointed as her ex-husband Ali Mercchant entered the Lock Upp. Sara and Ali had gotten married on Bigg Boss in 2010, but separated just two months later. Ali has now joined Lock Upp as a wild card contestant, and his ex-wife looked less than happy about it. Alt Balaji shared a new promo of the show on Monday with the caption, “Ali ki entry se ‘Sara’ mood badal gaya! (Sara’s mood has changed after Ali’s entry).What happens next?” The video started with Ali Mercchant entering Lock Upp in the costume of a guard, and then removing his mask to reveal his face. “Kya bolti Lock Upp season one ki kadak public. How are you doing,” Ali says while the contestants expressed surprise. Sara immediately turned around and left the area. Meanwhile, Ali greeted other contestants and introduced himself.

“So I am the new kaidi (prisoner) over here. Lovely meeting you guys. So let me give you all a standing ovation. I think you guys are doing fantastic, and it’s a pleasure to be here. Thank you,” he said. The video showed that Sara stayed in the kitchen and worked there with a stoic expression on her face.

The show had announced Ali’s entry on Sunday, in a promo that showed Kangana putting Ali in handcuffs for being a “publicity seeker.” A voiceover said, “Crazy ex-boyrfriends ko bhulna aasaan hai, but magar jab ex-husband fir se saamne aa jaaye, to things get even crazier. Sara Khan ka past fir se ban raha hai uska present (It’s easy to forget ex-boyrfriends, but if ex-husband comes in front of you again, things get even crazier. Sara Khan’s past is becoming her present). Queen’s Lock Upp mein entering Ali Merchant.”

Viewers expressed their excitement at the potential drama that Ali’s entry will bring to the show. One commented, “Viewers be like: Abhi maja aayega na bhidu!! (now it will be fun).” Meanwhile, some expressed sympathies for Shivam Sharma who keeps expressing his love for Sara on Lock Upp. “No Shivam ka kia hoga (What’ll happen to Shivam)” one wrote. There were others who found the situation unfair to Sara. “How can she handle this,” read one comment.

Ali and Sara got married on Bigg Boss in 2010, but separated just two months later. When Ali came out of the Bigg Boss house, Sara’s parents claimed that they had married two years ago, in 2008, and that they received money from the channel to get married on the show. He confirmed the allegations two years later on Sach Ka Saamna. Sara had later called the marriage a ‘nightmare’ in an interaction.

Lock Upp: Badass Jail Atyaachaari Khel, streams on Alt Balaji and MX Player all seven days with Kangana’s Judgement Day episodes streaming on weekends at 10.30 pm. The prisoner reality show would put its “controversial” celebrity players in severe situations where they will have to complete tasks in order to obtain basic necessities.
