WHY: High temperatures during the summer can cause heat stress in cattle, pigs, and poultry, as they cannot dissipate body heat quickly to stay cool. Heat stress can significantly affect the animal’s health and well-being and negatively impact production. The impact can sometimes be severe. ARS scientists present research and practices on heat stress mitigation in livestock helpful for producers, farmers, and land managers.
