In the communally sensitive district of Jammu region, the President Sanatan Dharma Sabha (SDS), Kishtwar Surinder Kumar Sen wrote to District Commissioner Kishtwar and Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar seeking action in this regard against teachers who remained mute spectators.

In a complaint submitted to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and SSP Kishtwar regarding religious sloganeering in Government Higher secondary School Kishtwar, SDS Kishtwar President Mr Sen stated it has been brought to our notice that a few days back most unfortunate act has happened in this school where few students of one section raised religious slogan in the morning assembly with an intention to counter the Bharat Mata Ki Jai at the behest of covert support from some staff members.

“In this connection It is not known whether any action has been taken by the School administration against the students/ the masterminds behind such incident or not.’

Mr Sen added If such things go unnoticed, the same will not only boost the morale of such disruptive elements but in the long run it will be difficult for the administration to maintain National spirit among the students.

“Therefore, we Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Kishtwar request for your intervention in the matter by ordering an enquiry in the matter so that the mischief mongers are identified and penalized.

Meanwhile the girls in an audio message which went viral have alleged that they have been threatened and told not to chant the Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

“Some of our seniors, classmates and juniors raised objections and threatened to beat us for chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ after the national anthem,” a student said.

She (in audio message) added that they have submitted a copy of complaint to the Deputy Commissioner and said they have every right to chant national slogan being citizens of the country.

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma said, “we have written to education authorities and the matter is being verified by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu .

However attempts to get comments from Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar remained futile as he didn’t respond to repeated calls and text sms.
