Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga author Aka Akasaka has announced retirement from illustrating. This comes after the release of the final chapter of the manga series. The author and ex-illustrator announced the news on his Twitter account.
“I had a lot of happy memories and I can look back now and wonder if I was able to make the people around me happy,” he wrote on Twitter (via Crunchyroll).
“As for my future activities, I am planning to retire from working as a manga artist after this series. ‘Retirement’ means that I am going to retire from being a manga artist who draws, and I would like to concentrate on creating stories from now on. I want to continue my activities as a story writer. As for drawing, I intend to continue it loosely as a hobby,” Akasaka continues.
Akasaka has provided the story for Oshi no Ko manga, which is illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. The manga is set to get an anime adaptation in 2023.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War started serialisation in March 2016 and ended its run on November 2022. Its TV anime adaptation is produced by A-1 Pictures, and there is a film coming in December 2022. The manga also got a live-action film and over 15 million copies were in circulation in April 2021.
