WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3Jujutsu Kaisen fans are in disbelief following the release of season two’s third episode. Especially for anime-only fans, the episode would have likely been the biggest roller coaster ride they’ve ever taken. The episode was filled not only with pain, but the loss of a beloved character.
Since Toji Fushiguro’s first appearance, the fact was undeniable that he looked like a sadistic beast who could go to any extent for money. However, Gojo’s godly powers still made us believe that Toji Fushiguro didn’t stand a chance against our beloved Six-Eyed sorcerer, no matter how strong he might be. But this episode spoke the opposite.
What Happened In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3?
When Gojo, Geto, and Misato Kuroi were headed to the main hall of the Tomb of the Stars for Riko’s merger with Tengen, Gojo was unexpectedly attacked by Toji Fushiguro. However, his vital organs were not damaged, and Gojo got ready to battle Toji, telling Geto and the others to continue going to the hall without him while he remained there to finish him off. However, Toji’s lack of Cursed Energy and his deadly arsenal was too much for Gojo to handle, and ultimately, we saw Gojo lying in a pool of blood with no hope of coming back to life.
This wasn’t enough for the creators; they sent Toji on the hunt instantly. As Geto and Riko continued their journey to reach Master Tengen, Riko recalled her past while Geto gave her a choice not to merge with Tengen if she didn’t feel like doing it. However, before she could hold Geto’s hand and leave the tomb, Toji Fushiguro arrived just in time and shot Riko Amanai in the head. Now we are yet to see the result of Geto and Toji’s battle, but fans wonder if Gojo and Riko Amanai are safe, or if it’s game over for them.
Is Riko Amanai Dead?
As for Gojo, he manages to survive the deadly attack by making use of the Reverse Cursed Technique on time, healing his body completely. However, Riko Amanai doesn’t have the same ability to heal herself, and her story sadly ends with the one bullet that Toji shot into her head. After her death, Riko’s body is initially sent to the Star Religious Group; however, Gojo retrieves her body from there later on.
The impact of this episode was nothing short of seismic for Jujutsu Kaisen fans. The shocking turn of events left many in tears, as one of the most beloved characters met her tragic end. Riko Amanai had been a source of joy and strength for many, and her loss left a void that will be difficult to fill.
The question on everyone’s mind now is, how will the story unfold from here? With Gojo alive and determined to avenge Riko’s death, he will battle against the Sorcerer Killer again. We aren’t going to spoil the upcoming episode for you, but, it’s going to be one of the best fights you have witnessed in the series so far.
A Twitter account named Kyle Anime Scouter mentioned a very interesting detail regarding the event that unfolded in the recent episode.
