Jujutsu Kaisen: 10 Best Villains, Ranked

Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime full of fantastical adventures, gut-wrenching terror, and demons galore. The characters in the series are all fleshed out, and the world-building is very well done. In a Shonen anime about fighting demons, a big aspect of the appeal is definitely the demons themselves.

Their motivations and goals, their powers and appearances, and even their day-to-day lives, everything about the enemies in Jujutsu Kaisen, is quite interesting. Some of the bad guys in the show aren’t even demons, just humans that have been manipulated into working for them.

10 Haruta Shigemo

Haruta is a part of the evil sorcerer faction that is trying to seal away Gojo. He is a chaotic individual who only fights those that are weaker than him. That’s not to say that he’s weak himself. He can easily take on anyone below Grade 2 and come out without any major injuries. However, he doesn’t stand a chance against a true Grade 1 sorcerer.

Haruta is a twisted individual who finds killing and sowing chaos to be a fun activity, and that is his whole motivation. His uncanny luck and miracle-storing ability allow him to survive dangerous encounters that should kill someone of his level, making him something of a nuisance.

9 Jogo

In simple words, Jogo is a revolutionary hoping to flip the world order. He is an unregistered special-grade cursed spirit who works alongside Mahito’s faction and believes that cursed spirits are the true owners of this world.

Jogo has a fanatical devotion to his cause, not caring if he dies in the process as long as his final goal is completed. He is also a very prideful individual, considering all humans to be beneath him, leading him to underestimate Gojo and get decimated by the sorcerer.

8 Junpei

Junpei is a major character in the Vs. Mahito arc. He isn’t necessarily a bad person, but Mahito manipulated him into choosing the dark side. He constantly swings between right and wrong, often teetering at the edge of doing something unforgivable, and that’s what makes him such a compelling villain.

Though Junpei ultimately realizes his mistakes and tries to change his ways, it’s too late as Mahito takes control away from him and changes him into an abomination, which dies soon after.

7 Death Painting Siblings

The three death painting siblings are perhaps the most human-cursed spirits in the show. Their camaraderie is heartwarming, and even though they are fighting against the main characters, one cannot help but root for them to have a happy ending.

After two of the siblings die in combat, the eldest sibling finds out Yuji is related to them as well, leading him to help out the main characters instead of staying with Mahito’s crew.

6 Toji Fushiguro

Megumi’s father and the disowned child of the Zenin family, Toji Fushiguro, was known as the Sorcerer killer because of his hatred for the Jujutsu world and immense power. He is seemingly the only person in the world without even a tiny bit of cursed energy. As a tradeoff, he has a heavenly constitution that grants him inhuman reactions and immense physical power.

In his prime, Toji was able to take down special-grade Jujutsu users like Suguru with ease. He even managed to deal considerable damage to Gojo Satoru, who was considered a prodigy even at that time. All in all, Toji’s spite for the Jujutsu world, incredible intellect, and ungodly physical prowess make him one of the most dangerous men of his time.

5 Uraume

Uraume is a mysterious human who allies themselves with Kenjaku in order to revive Sukuna and seal away Gojo. They are a human who’s stood alongside Sukuna from the start, thousands of years ago, and continue to do so to this day.

They are a very skilled sorcerer and can manipulate ice with ease. Uraume can dispatch several powerful sorcerers on their own without any issue. However, even Uraume is no match for the might of Gojo, which is why they plan to seal him before attempting to revive Sukuna.

4 Mahito

The main antagonist for a good portion of the series, Mahito, is a cursed spirit born from humanity’s hatred of each other. He, alongside Jogo, Dagon, and Hanami, are four special-grade cursed spirits who wish to eradicate humanity and bring about the age of cursed spirits where they can claim the earth as their own.

As far as his personality goes, Mahito is little more than an evil child who likes to harm others. He has childish expectations and gets extremely shaken when someone can deal any damage to him. However, the biggest strength of Mahito is his potential for growth. He is a very immature cursed spirit, but even so, he grows at a staggering rate, more than most cursed spirits do. Given enough time, he is sure to become a true powerhouse for Psuedo-Geto’s faction.

3 Hanami

Another special-grade cursed spirit in cahoots with Mahito, Hanami, is one of the best villains in the series. He is a cursed spirit who hates humanity because of their mistreatment of nature, as he was born from the fear of natural disasters. The character design of Hanami is one of the best in the series and helps him stand out in a crowd.

Hanami’s fight against Yuji and Todo is the best-choreographed fight in the series, perhaps in all of anime. The fight seems like the two sides are playing 4D chess, each player thinking ten steps further, and each clash constantly changing the plans even as they are formed. It’s a cinematic masterpiece that everyone should watch.

2 Suguru

Suguru is a special-grade sorcerer from the same generation as Gojo Satoru and shares an old friendship with his colleague. He was a good person at first, fighting to protect non-curse users, but eventually strayed from the right path and lost sight of his convictions, leading him to disdain any non-curse users as monkeys.

In the series, Kenjaku, an ancient evil sorcerer, takes over the body of Suguru Geto and uses it for his own purposes. Namely, evolving humanity by using a large amount of cursed energy to bring about a new era of Jujutsu users.

1 Sukuna

The main antagonist living in the body of the main protagonist, Sukuna, was a legendary sorcerer in ancient times who died and became a cursed spirit too powerful for humanity to handle.

Being the main antagonist and the most powerful cursed spirit of all time, Sukuna’s presence is felt everywhere in the series, from his fingers that continue to exist even after his demise, giving birth to more cursed spirits, to the immense power he wields even in the body of his weak host. The epic scale of Sukuna’s power and the far-reaching consequences of his potential escape and/or revival make him one of the coolest villains of all time.
