Joyita Chatterjee, who will be seen in the second season of Alt Balaji’s Class of 2020, talks about her passion for acting & more

Tell us something about your childhood…

I was born and brought up in Durgapur, West Bengal. My father was a government officer and my mother a homemaker. My childhood was quite joyful and full of some beautiful memories. Being a kid, I really liked visiting my grandparents’ home along with my brother and other cousins, especially during the Durga puja.

How did your family react to your decision of becoming an actress?

Coming from an upper middle-class family, the concern was on getting a postgraduate degree and a nine-to-five job. But I had other plans. When I spoke to them about pursuing acting as my profession, they didn’t welcome my decision wholeheartedly. But I must say my mother has been my biggest support since then.

When did you first face the camera?

I first faced the camera when I was in college. I used to work as a news reader at a local TV channel on a part-time basis. I must say it really helped improve my skills.

What do you love to do when you are not shooting?

When not shooting, I just love to be myself inside the comfort of my home. I just spend my day sleeping, watching TV shows, enjoying food and working-out.

How do you maintain a fit body?

Though I am a foodie, my fitness regime includes a considerable amount of cardio and weight training. I also go for dance classes, which helps to keep both my mental and physical health in good shape.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Loving yourself and being yourself is my idea of perfect happiness. Life is very dynamic. It always doesn’t go the way we plan.

If not acting then what were your other career options?

I did an MBA because I had interest in it. So, if not acting I would have been in the corporate world.
