Jetpack Joyride 2 is an Apple Store Exclusive, Releasing August 19th

Halfbrick Studios has announced that Jetpack Joyride 2 – the sequel to the original game that released over a decade ago – will be releasing on August 19th, 2022. The catch? You’ll need to be on Apple’s ecosystem if you want to take Barry and his assortment of powerups for an endless run; Jetpack Joyride 2 is an Apple Arcade exclusive.

It’s actually not the first time that Jetpack Joyride 2 has been released. Last year, developer Halfbrick Studios released an early build of the game, titled Jetpack Joyride 2: Bullet Rush, to select territories on iOS and Android devices before eventually pulling the game from storefronts to continue development.

Now, here in 2022, the studio has announced that Barry Steakfries will be returning but only via the Apple Arcade subscription service. So, if you want to smash, blast, and cause general mayhem, you’ll need either an iPhone, an iPad, a Mac, or an Apple TV to play. There’s no word on any future plans for an Android release, or even console/PC.

It’s worth noting that the original game, Jetpack Joyride, released on iOS in 2011 before being ported to Android phones and tablets. Then, even the PS Vita got a respectable version (which yours truly still plays!) as well as a PSP and PS3 release.
