James Gunn Reveals How Marvel Was Instrumental With the Epic Cameo in the Finale of DC’s Peacemaker

The Season 1 finale of DC’s Peacemaker ended with a major bang as the TV show capped off a stellar plot with a cameo from the franchise’s star-studded team in the Justice League.

Following the massive battle with the Butterflies in the final episode, the wounded Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker and his squad walked off the battlefield in style, only to be met by DC’s Justice League, who had arrived a bit late.

The entire Justice League from Zack Snyder’s didn’t show up with only the Flash, Aquaman, Superman and Wonder Woman arriving to address the problem. While Batman and Cyborg were a complete no-show, only Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa had shown up on set to shoot for their scenes as other actors shot for Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

However, while Miller and Momoa had arrived on set to shoot for the hilarious scene involving the Peacemaker, it wasn’t just any regular shoot as Marvel Studios had a hand in the making.

During a recent chat with comicbook.com, Peacemaker creator James Gunn talked about how he approached Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa for the cameo, and he further revealed that Marvel shot the scene with the Flash and Aquaman while he was busy filming for his next MCU movie in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

“Powerful. Extremely powerful. Complex.”Gunn later noted why Marvel decided to shoot the scene as he believed that the studio was getting even after him and his Peacemaker crew shot the screen test for Chukwudi Iwuji (Murn), for a mysterious role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

In the end, it seems like there’s a great amount of respect between the comic book IPs, and it will be interesting to see the relationship blossom between the two in the future for some major collaborations.
