ISL: Odisha FC rope in goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte for two years | Football News – Times of India

India Super League (ISL) side Odisha FC on Sunday announced the successful signing of Mizoram goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte on a two-year deal from the I-League side Punjab FC. With Ralte’s entry in the Kalinga Warriors fold, the number of new domestic arrivals ahead of the upcoming season rose to six at the Bhubaneswar-based club.
The Juggernauts have already secured the services of Nikhil Prabhu (permanent transfer from Hyderabad FC), Michael Soosairaj, Narender Gahlot, Raynier Fernandes (on loan from Mumbai City FC) and Denechandra Meitei (on loan from Kerala Blasters FC) prior to the deal with Ralte.

“Ralte is a veteran custodian with a lot of experience in Indian football. He has a lot of experience with the domestic league, domestic cups, and AFC tournaments as well. We are excited and looking forward to seeing Ralte in action and wish him the very best for the upcoming season,” the club said in a statement released after the signing.
The Champhai-born goalkeeper played his early career at Shillong Lajong FC, signing with the then newly-promoted Meghalaya club in the summer of 2011, to play in I-League. He made his debut for Lajong against Churchill Brothers on September 17, 2011, in Federation Cup. He helped the club reach the semifinals of the premier cup competition against Salgaocar. Ralte went on to make over 40 appearances for the Shillong-based side.
‘Mawia’, as he is known, joined Bengaluru FC in 2014 when the club was still in I-League. In his debut season, Ralte made 20 appearances for the Blues helping them win the I-League title, and then took guard under the crosspiece in the club’s run to the AFC Cup final the following term. Ralte made his AFC Champions League debut against Johor Darul Ta’zim at Larkin Stadium in Malaysia.
In 2018 Ralte joined FC Goa, and then was loaned out to Kerala Blasters (2019) and East Bengal (2019-20) in the following season, making nine appearances for the Kolkata giants.
Ralte re-joined Bengaluru FC in 2020 before moving to I-League side Punjab FC in 2021-22, where he made his mark before moving to Odisha FC.
