IPL 2022, SRH vs RCB: Struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad look to arrest slide against Royal Challengers Bangalore | Cricket News – Times of India

Focus on struggling Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli
It’s ironic that two of the best batsmen in modern times are struggling and so are their teams as they head into the last stages of the league phase in IPL.
Having followed a similar career trajectory since their junior days, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson are going through a lean patch with the former at No. 32 in the batting charts with 216 runs from 11 outings – a highest of 58 – and Williamson is at No. 34 with 199 from 10 innings with a highest of 57.

Their teams have been moving up and down the table too with Royal Challengers Bangalore at No. 4 with 12 points and a net run-rate to worry about, while Sunrisers Hyderabad are sixth with 10 points.
Kohli, who relinquished charge ahead of the tournament to focus on his batting, and Williamson, in the team to lead from the front, will be up against each other in the return leg on Sunday night and the duo will look to make amends at the Wankhede Stadium.
The high of a nine-wicket win in the first leg at the Brabourne Stadium, where the wicket offered some assistance to the SRH attack and Marco Jansen ripped through the RCB top order in powerplay, has been replaced by the low of three consecutive defeats, where the Hyderabad outfit was at the receiving end of their former players.

If it was Wriddhiman Saha and Rashid Khan with the bat for Gujarat Titans, David Warner’s unbeaten 92 for Delhi Capitals handed SRH a 21-run defeat, as they failed to chase down totals upwards of 200 for the third time this season.
With such little margin for error, Dale Steyn would’ve stressed on the importance of hitting the right areas to Umran Malik, whose fastest delivery at 157-kmph proved cannon fodder to Warner and Rovman Powell on the rampage, and Sean Abbott as the extra runs conceded are making the difference.
Like SRH, RCB have their own worries and inconsistencies to deal with, but they will be upbeat going into this game after their 13-run win over CSK, with Harshal Patel being the standout performer.
