Australia star David Warner and England opener Jonny Bairstow bid adieu to SunrRisers Hyderabad and their fans ahead of IPL 2022 retention deadline. The former champions took to Instagram took to social media to share a team photo on Tuesday.

SunRisers Hyderabad said it’s not a farewell message and said some of them in the team photo will be back at the franchise for IPL 2022.

David Warner hinted he will not be back at SunRisers Hyderabad as he thanked the fans and franchise for their support over the years. Warner was appointed as the SRH captain in 2015 and he led the team to glory in 2016, which remains SRH’s only title.

Warner was welcomed back as captain after his return to competitive action following the Sandpaper scandal. Warner led SRH in the UAE in 2020 but he was removed as captain in 2021 following a poor start to SRH in the new season. He was dropped from the team and reports suggested that the Australian star was asked to stay back at the team hotel.

Warner, in an interview to India Today, hinted he wouldn’t be retained by SRH for IPL 2022 while adding that he was willing to explore other opportunities.

Responding to SRH’s post on Tuesday, Warner said: “Thanks to all of you for your support over the years, up and downs, my family and I can’t stress enough how much we appreciated the love and passion you showed towards us and the team. Candice and I truly wish all the fans the very best for the future and hope whoever you wish to support the best. Love the Warner’s.”

Meanwhile, Bairstow thanked the fans for their support, adding: “Thank you all for your support! Hopefully at some point our paths cross again in the future.”

It remains to be seen if SunRisers Hyderabad will retain the likes of Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan as the IPL 2022 retentions will be announced on Tuesday evening.
