It’s certainly going to be one of the contenders for the catch of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. As soon as Ravi Bishnoi took the catch at the deep at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, batting great Sunil Gavaskar, who was on-air, said it’s going to be one of the catches of the tournament.
Ravi Bishnoi, the young Punjab Kings leg-spinner, fired up his team by taking a blinder at the cow-corner region in the 3rd over of Kolkata Knight Riders’ 124-run chase in Match 24 of IPL 2021 that saw the end of Sunil Narine’s short stay.
PBKS vs KKR, IPL 2021: Live Updates
Arshdeep Singh, the young left-arm pacer, pitched it on a good length and Sunil Narine went for the big shot as he tried to deposit one into the mid-wicket stands. However, he did not connect it properly and the ball ballooned up into the night sky as it went towards the longer part of the stadium.
Ravi Bishnoi, who was standing at deep fine-leg, covered close to 30 meters before perfectly-timed his dive to take a blinder of a catch. Captain KL Rahul and the rest of his teammates were delighted as Punjab picked up the third wicket in the powerplay after posting just 123 on the board.
Not just Sunil Gavaskar but quite a few former players and fans on social media lauded Ravi Bishnoi for adding some spark to an otherwise dull affair in Ahmedabad.

Punjab Kings were electric on the field in the first 4 overs as Chris Gayle came up with a direct hit that nearly sent Rahul Tripathi back right after Ravi Bishnoi’s catch.
However, the young leg-spinner conceded extra runs by fumbling two relatively easy stops that went to the boundary. Eoin Morgan and Tripathi rescued Kolkata after they were reduced to 17 for 3. KKR reached 42 for 3 at the end of the powerplay.
Earlier in the day, Kolkata Knight Riders, who were looking to end their 4-match losing streak, came up with a disciplined effort with the ball to restrict Punjab Kings to 123 for 9 after Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to field. While Prasidh Krishna picked up 3 wickets, Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine picked up 2 each. Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakravarthy chipped in with miserly spells and picked up a wicket each.
